The current state of VA hospitals and clinics is unacceptable. It is not how we should thank the heroes and heroines who risked their lives defending us. VA facilities are inefficient and many are not fulfilling their duties in caring for veterans.
It is equally our duty and responsibility to take care of our veterans who suffer from psychological and physical injuries as a result of their service. With many of them entering service right out of high school, they come back with little job experience or training. Vocational training of our returning service men and women is a crucial part of supporting our vets. Furthermore, housing and rehabilitation of our homeless vets is our responsibility and more veteran homes must be established. Unfortunately the West Los Angeles Home for Veterans has been compromised by the H.R.5936 – West Los Angeles Leasing Act of 2016 that allows multiple outside private entities to lease the property that was specifically donated as a home for Veterans. This Act was co-sponsored by my Congressional opponent Congressman Ted Lieu. There is even an oil well on the grounds. It is a crime that homeless veterans camp just outside the gates of the VA facility.
